Beaten by Bubba and a man with half a back.. 

Your Captain, Steve Nicholson and I have played a couple of very enjoyable Captain/Pro matches during the last week both against pairings Roy Claxton arranged. 

The first, last Monday saw us playing against Roy and his bandit son Bradley "Bubba" Claxton. Bradley aims as far right of target and hits the ball almost as far as Bubba Watson, so it was no surprise that giving him 11 shots proved too much for us on a day when his short game was also pretty good. 

Match result; 5&4 win to team Claxton.

Tuesday morning 8am and Roy has drafted in John Loughlin to partner him. John has had work done on a back injury, but so far they've only done half of it, so he's a man with half a back. Watch out when he gets the other half done because he played great. John's putting can often cause him grief, but not on Tuesday when he holed everything, he said to me walking down the 14th hole, "I haven't played this well all year". With Roy playing nicely both days a 3&2 loss was probably as good a result as Steve and I could have managed.


 

This is the last week of our series of Captain/Pro matches and it will come as no surprise to everyone that it has been a joy to play with Captain Steve during his year. Everyone knows what a gentleman he is and I would like to say a big thanks to Steve from myself and all of the members who we have played against this year, and to everyone who has supported him with all the other things he has been involved with. Congratulations Steve on a great year.
