Form is temporary, class is permanent!

One of my favourite lines in golf came true in the Men's Spring Meeting last Sunday. Showing very little form this year so far Simon Dangar found something that allowed him to produce a fabulous gross 73 nett 69 to pick up both top prizes in Eaton's first major of the year. SSS was 2 over par at 74, showing that even in perfect conditions the course remains a stern test. Simon is back down to a lifetime low of 3 handicap first achieved last year after 40+ years as an Eaton member.

Spare a thought for Sham Jagota who came 2nd gross with 74. Super steady, reliable Sham (2 h'cap) took 6 at the last to miss out on the top spot. Our final hole has always had the chance to be a card wrecker, remember James Newton (+3) taking 7 on the 72nd hole in the Cheshire Strokeplay a couple of years ago.

2nd nett went to long hitting Justin Caroe who had a 75 - 5 = 70.

Previously in the Ladies Spring Meeting, Chrissie Latter won the gross and 2nd nett with an 88 - 16 nett 75. Sue Parkes won top nett with 90 - 16 nett 74. 2nd gross went to Ros Longson with 89. 

Both Sue and Chrissie were under handicap as a result of SSS being 76, a score matched by Mary Henry with 96 - 20 nett 76. 

So ladies, if you want to play better golf become a volunteer coach at Eaton like Chrissie and Sue, it clearly helps your own game!


 

Titleist Demo Day

Following on from the massive success of our Callaway Demo day it was great to see some people taking advantage of the chance to try the Lynx line-up for 2017 last week. Lynx has a fantastic range of mid-priced clubs which proved very powerful and accurate. If you couldn't make the day and want to discuss your requirements please drop us a line. 

Titleist are next up with the full range of clubs available on Monday, 19 June from 2-6pm. Booking is essential for Titleist who offer their Tour Proven 917 drivers and fairways with the new Surefit CG and the AP1 & 2 irons in both graphite and steel shafts. 

Also available to fit will be the full range of Vokey SM6 wedges as used so successfully by the aforementioned Simon Dangar who bought his from us in January '17 following his fitting.
