Competition news

Men's Medal

An excellent days scoring last weekend in the Men's black tees medal saw Justin Caroe (hcp 6), John Boswell (12) and David Harrison (20) all win their divisions with net 70. Justin won by a single shot from Andy Vernon (5) and 7 handicapper Chris Garrett. John was way out in front from 2nd place Alan Evans 74 playing off 14, while Chris Chapman (17) shot 72 to come 2nd to David.

The yellow tees medal saw Nick Cornish shooting a best of the day nett 74 beating form man Adrian Senior by 2 shots.

 

Lady Captain's Charity Team Stableford

An excellent turn out saw 18 teams playing with the winners, Sue Seys-Llewellyn, Shan Jones and Sarah Evans scoring 70 points to win by a massive 5 points from Chrissie Emmerson, Sue Parkes and Margaret Hopkins with 65.

These performances, culminating in a runner-up finish in last week's season-ending TOUR Championship, saw Thomas take the top spot in the FedEx Cup (the PGA Tour’s OOM) and the juicy $10 million bonus that goes along with that.

Winter Lessons

Keep your ball in play

If you struggle to keep your drives on the short stuff then it’s probably about time you looked at improving this area of your game. Feeling confident when standing over a tee shot is crucial to hitting a good drive and that’s where we come in.

You might be surprised that there isn’t a bigger difference between the stats in this graph. The real difference comes when you look at how far offline the misses finish.

It doesn’t take a genius to work out hitting it straighter will reduce lost balls and increase your chance of making pars, which is why we highly recommend having a driver you’re confident in and one that’s set-up to counter your most common bad shot.

Layer up, winter's coming

A common misconception among many golfers is that adding layers will completely restrict your swing.
