The Masters Yes, only 1 more week until we get the chance to watch the first major of the year at Ausgusta National. I'm sure most of you look forward to this as much as we, in the shop, do. It seems to get more exciting every year, but, surely last year's emotional win by Sergio will take some beating? Justin Rose, who lost in that incredible play-off last April will be amongst the favourites, having been in such great form, but I, like many see Justin Thomas and Alex Noren as my picks. Generally the bookies are not often wrong, and they have Rory, DJ and the returning Tiger as joint favourites. I can't wait to see what unfolds this year. |

Fancy New Kit for Free? Yes, this is your chance to buy any new Callaway or Titleist product and get it for FREE! All you do is buy the product of your choice any time before the start of The Masters, so you've got 2 weeks.
|
Pick the player playing that brand who you think will win at Augusta and if they do Callaway/Titleist will refund your purchase price. It's that simple!
So whether you want a couple of dozen golf balls or a brand new set of irons you can get them for FREE! With Callaway staff players including on form players like Phil Mickelson, Henrik Stenson, Marc Leishman, young Ryder Cup star Thomas Pieters, and defending champion Sergio Garcia they should have a real chance.
Titleist have my pick, Justin Thomas, past champ Jordan Speith, Rafa Cabrera Bello, great putter Brian Harman and rising star Patrick Cantlay, as well as Charley Hoffman and Webb Simpson all in the top 50 of the world rankings! Who will you pick?

Your Golf Shop is Looking Good For those of you who haven't played much recently please pop into the pro shop before your next game and have a look at the developments we have been busy with. We now have a new smaller (too small?) and most importantly quieter Coca Cola fridge which is a delight after how much noise the old one was making.
|
Also, yesterday saw the brand new range of ladies and men’s Callaway shoes hit the shop. These are stylish, comfortable, supportive, and fantastic value for money. As with everything we sell, we have matched or bettered the best internet prices, so you don't need to shop around. |
Testers Wanted A few weeks ago I asked for volunteers to be involved in some product testing. We have had a couple of members put themselves forward, but I'd love a couple more. Please let me know if you're interested.

Could You Beat Us?
The Captain, Mike Brereton and I are ready to see if we can go one step better than last year. In 2017 John Iles and myself only lost one match! Andrew Ramsey and Bob Costello beat us 3&2. A sheet is now up in the men's locker room with a dozen match dates available. Format is better ball Matchplay with 90% allowance. Please get your names on the sheet, if you've not played these matches before they are often the highlight of many members golfing year.
I've been practicing hard in the swing studio, I've got my new clubs and Mike has a lot of shots so we're ready to take on all comers. I'm sure Ilesy and Largey will be after us! Bring it on! |

The Course is Ready for you! Our head greenkeeper Gavin and his team have finally been able to get out onto the course to start doing some of the early season maintenance that gives us such wonderful playing conditions throughout the summer. The stripes being back on the course really gives us the feeling that winter is finally over. We think the golf course is a credit to the greens staff and their hard work.

Range News and Safety We have just taken delivery of 3000 brand new yellow Callaway range balls for your enjoyment. As soon as the ground conditions get better meaning that they won't disappear underground we will be loading them into the ball machine.
Tokens will be available behind the bar after 6pm when the shop closes.
1 token dispenses 20 balls and costs £1.

Please remember that as an H & S issue you are not allowed to collect balls from the range at any time. The club have put up a notice to serve as a reminder. |
There’s a well-known phrase: if you can’t beat them, join them. So while it’s unlikely you’ll be challenging for a Ryder Cup place later this year, why not join the world’s best in following the latest golf trends? |
FootJoy’s tour stars aren’t the only fans of this FootJoy Stretch pique with Paisley Print Trim polo, which has been getting a lot of attention in our shop. Like all of FootJoy’s apparel, it is designed especially for golf with a moisture-wicking, four-way stretch fabric, so if you opt for this top you’ll get a full range of motion and stay cool when the weather hots up. | |
