Welcome to this week's newsletter. So, hopefully it’s not going to too much longer before we get out to play at Eaton. For those of you who are intending on dashing down to the golf course as soon as we are allowed by the government, please keep an eye out for the guidelines coming from a working group headed by the Captains. These have been set up to keep everyone as safe as possible and will certainly mean that the nature of our wonderful game will be somewhat different to pre-lockdown. The pro shop will initially be the only part of the clubhouse that will be staffed, please rest assured that we will be following these best practices. Your course has been receiving the best possible care from Gavin, Callum and Jamie, and, as you can imagine, with the other three staff furloughed they have been working flat out. Eaton, probably like all other quality courses, will certainly not be accepting any visitors for the foreseeable future, so it’s definitely a great time to reflect on the true value of your membership. Certainly golfers who are not members of a golf club will be either unable to play for many months after those that are, or they will be restricted to the courses desperate to increase revenue by compromising their staff, members and courses. Quality golf, like ours will become even more of a premium product, which only members will be able to access. It will be interesting to see which clubs survive best. I know that the prudent approach of our Board and FD, Andrew Ramsey will mean we will be one of the very strongest. Thanks again to all of you who have been in touch over the last week, it is always great to hear from you and to see what you have been doing. Later in this week’s newsletter you will see I have posted a flop shot challenge, please send me a video of how you have got on. I also am setting you a keepy uppy challenge. Please email your video with your first attempt at doing as many keepy uppy’s as you can. Please no 2nd, 3rd or more takes! Use a sand/lob wedge and there will be a prize or two handed out. I will share the winners videos on my website and in a later newsletter. Good luck! Stay safe and enjoy the rest of the read, Bill.
