Last week's quiz.

Thanks to all of you who replied to the expanded quiz from last week! Fewer replies than the week before and nobody with a really good answer, however, there were a few worthy of going into the hat for the draw for the prize... The winner was Leslie Kirby, who chose to hit a 7 iron because there was out of bounds at the back of the green!

What I was looking for was that the ball was lying on an upslope or downslope which would affect the launch angle of the ball and therefore necessitate a change of club. This could result in a significant change from the 6 iron, in much the same way as the correct launch angle on your driver can affect how far you hit it.

Billy Rules

Here we have a couple of rules questions for you to ponder over.

1) A golfer hits his/her ball into the deep rough which often means lost ball. He says he'll hit another, which he knocks straight down the middle.

Upon reaching the area of his 1st tee shot he walks straight to it, it's lying great and he hits it onto the green. He 2 putts and marks his card with a 4. What is the outcome?

2) Billy (handicap 0) and Steve (12) are playing in a 4BBB stableford. On the 3rd hole (SI 2) Billy makes a 4 first leaving Steve with a putt for a 4 which he misses so makes a 5 nett 4.

Their marker puts a 4 down on the card but in Steve's column. What is the outcome?

Following a conversation I had this week, I thought I should share this with you:

How many of you were clever enough to have bought shares in Amazon a few years ago, or even at the start of lockdown? It's a monster of a business now and, with many small businesses selling their products through the Amazon umbrella (at a cost of around 15%!) it seems it will continue to grow.

So, what has that got to do with my newsletter? I buy my products directly from the manufacturer; Callaway, Titleist, Motocaddy etc. As do Amazon and their affiliated retailers.

If the manufacturer has stock, even in the strange times we are currently experiencing, I can buy it in for you, without much delay. If the manufacturer has no stock of a particular item, I might have it in stock, Foremost Golf or one of the 1000+ pro’s in the Foremost group might have it, or Amazon might have it, but either way, nobody, not even Amazon can get more stock if it is not available.

Post lockdown has been impossibly challenging in this respect for all manufacturers and all retailers alike, however, it is improving.

Please understand that if the manufacturer is out of stock, I can’t buy it in until they get it back in stock, so please bear with me if I can't get the product that you would like immediately. I will always do my best to source one in the quickest time possible.

Hatton's happy homecoming

Tyrrell Hatton sealed a fantastic victory at Wentworth in the BMW PGA Championship over the weekend.

The Englishman played some outstanding golf from tee-to-green, setting up birdie chances aplenty thanks to a near-perfect ball-striking display. Finding the right part of the green was key to Hatton's success over the weekend, which saw him enter the World's Top 10 for the very first time.

One of the slightly more unusual talking points from the weekend was Hatton's clothing; more specifically his hoodies. It seems to have people split and, whilst it won't be to everyone's taste, we'd love to hear your thoughts - send us a message below.
