Thanks for the positive feedback regarding these little snippets, I know that they’re not for everyone, but it seems lots of you are enjoying them.

The Answer to last weeks questions were both DQ’s, the first for not declaring a provisional and the second for putting a lower gross score than the player actually had.

This week I want to clear something up. I was asked recently if a player putts his ball and the ball strikes the pin but stays out, perhaps due to the COVID sleeves we have in the holes, does it count as holed? Absolutely not!

Here’s this weeks question:

Two golfers have just won their respective quarter-finals of a club matchplay competition and arrange to play their semi-final straight away because they are both on form. Player A is waiting on the first tee at the agreed time, but player B has forgotten and doesn’t turn up.

Can Player A claim the match?

Tyrrell Hatton followed up his impressive BMW PGA Championship win with a T3 on the PGA Tour over the weekend - not bad after a late dash across the pond following his Wentworth triumph! In Europe, Aaron Rai has finished first, second and third over his last four events.

Bounce made simple

You’ll often hear golf commentators say “the bounce is your friend” but what is ‘bounce’ on a wedge? Well, it refers to the angle of the leading edge and plays an important role in how your wedge interacts with the turf through impact. 

High vs. low bounce wedges

As the image shows above, the higher the wedge bounce the more the leading edge is off the ground and pointing upwards. 

But how does this help you? Well, having the correct bounce for the course conditions and your swing type will offer additional forgiveness and promote a better strike, which is something that we can talk you through more in-store.
